Project SEARCH internationally
Project SEARCH provides an internship programme that provides real-word job experience, support to find full-time paid work and then subsequent support for both ex-students and employers once they are in work.
The program was founded in the US, at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital and has spread internationally, each country may have many separate Project SEARCH operations, each serving a particular region. In the UK, Project SEARCH In the UK is now being coordinated by the DFN Charitable Foundation. You can find the DFN Project SEARCH website here.

Project SEARCH in Waltham Forest, LondonIn 2013 Whitefield Academy Trust founded a North East London branch North which is run in partnership with Barts Health NHS Trust and supported employment service Kaleidoscope Sabre Associates. SEARCH's training and job placement offers an unparalleled success rate, with over 70% of students who complete placements moving into full-time work.
The programme has proven so successful that it now takes special needs students from many other schools. It is a partnership between a host employer (Barts Health NHS Trust), education establishments (Whitefield Academy Trust and local schools/colleges) and supported employment services (Kaleidoscope Sabre Associates) and offers total workplace immersion, that offers a combination of employability skills introduction, career exploration and hands-on training through a series of job placements within the host business. |
