Project SEARCH hosted an open event at Whipps Cross Hospital on Thursday 21st March. The afternoon was designed to give young people interested in joining the programme an opportunity to see Project SEARCH in action.
The potential future interns, families and professionals who attended had an opportunity to meet the Project SEARCH team, speak to interns and graduates, hear from managers and mentors and have an interactive tour of the hospital workplace. The tours proved extremely popular, with attendees impressed to see graduates and interns immersed in real job roles across the hospital, including directing visitors at reception, calling patients for their X-rays, delivering parcels, and working on the till in the restaurant.
For everyone who missed the event, Project SEARCH will be hosting a further Open Afternoon on May 23rd April 4-6pm at Whipps Cross.
Project SEARCH are recruiting interns for September 2019. Applications are welcomed from young adults aged 16-24, with autism, learning difficulties and/or sensory impairment who are seeking paid employment as a goal. Successful applicants will have an Education, Health and Care Plan, demonstrate a desire to work and be committed to attending Project SEARCH full time.
We're now recruiting our 2019 cohort, and looking for ambitious young people aged 16-24, with an EHC plan who are interested in making the commitment to a full-time internship at Whipps Cross hospital, starting in September.
On March 21st, between 1pm – 3pm, there will be an opportunity to ask all the questions you have, get a feel for the work that we do and meet the people who make Project SEARCH happen. Come along and meet the job coaches, talk to past interns – and to the employers who have taken them on as full-time, paid employees.
You can find us next to the Fontanella Coffee House café – that's at Junction 5 on the main corridor.
